Rowing is more than just a sport—it’s a challenge, a workout, and a community. Whether you're brand new to rowing or an experienced competitor, Illinois Community Rowing welcomes you to join us on the water.
Illinois Community Rowing is a program of the Illinois Rowing Association (ILRA). ILRA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, representing the alumni and friends of the University of Illinois Rowing Teams. The ILRA’s mission is the promotion and support of the sport of rowing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and in the Central Illinois region. Illinois Community Rowing welcomes rowers from all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels.
Our team rows on Clinton Lake, just a short drive from Champaign-Urbana, Decatur, and Bloomington-Normal offering a Learn to Row program for beginners and a Masters Rowing program for experienced rowers. We provide a supportive environment for rowers of all skill levels to build strength, endurance, and camaraderie.

🔹 No experience? No problem. Our summer Learn to Row program will have you gliding across the water in no time.
🔹 Looking for competition or getting back into rowing? Join our Masters Rowing program to improve your rowing and train for sprint and head races.

Clinton Lake – The Perfect Rowing Venue
Our team rows on Clinton Lake, a beautiful and spacious reservoir with consistent water conditions, low boat traffic, and plenty of open space. It's one of the best rowing venues in Central Illinois.

The Clinton Lake State Recreation Area is located on Liberty Road in Farmer City, Illinois. Enter at the Parnell Boat Access Area and Equestrian Trailhead.
